Cross Section Selection for Sediment Passage at Log Cabin and Our House Diversion Dams, per Sediment Management Plan
September or October, 2015

Pending the 401 and 404 permits and sufficient flows, YCWA currently plans to conduct the first annual sediment passage through the low level outlets at Log Cabin and Our House Diversion dams sometime between November 1, 2015 and March 15, 2016.  Prior to opening the low level outlets, YCWA needs to set-up monitoring locations within the impoundments.

Per the FERC-approved Log Cabin and Our House Sediment Management Plan, YCWA must:

“…[monitor] …in each impoundment along three cross sections … selected in the field with the USACE, USFWS, Forest Service, SWRCB, CVRWQCB and Cal Fish and Wildlife”

A one-day site visit (from 10am-4pm) and cross section selection will be scheduled and the above agencies are invited to participate in the selection.  The scheduled date for the site visit is September 29, with October 7 as a back-up date.  Please indicate which of the two dates is preferable. If relevant persons have been left off the invite, please do let us know.

Participants in cross section selection will meet at 10am at the Yuba River Ranger District Station at 15924 Highway 49
Camptonville CA 95922.  As always, safety is of primary concern. Please be prepared for the weather, and hiking conditions. This includes having: hiking boots, long pants, sunscreen, lunch and lots of water.
